Bathroom Remodel Quotes: Don't Skip the Waterproofing Line
What goes behind the tile matters more than the tile. Here's what a complete bathroom remodel quote includes.

A bathroom can look perfect on the day it's finished and still fail in a few years if water gets behind the tile. That's why the most important line in a bathroom quote is one you'll never see.
Waterproofing
Ask which waterproofing system will be used behind and under the shower tile. A quote that only says "tile shower" leaves this out.
Fixtures and the shower valve
Replacing just the handle and shower head is different from replacing the valve inside the wall. Ask which each quote includes.
Ventilation and electrical
An exhaust fan should vent to the outside. GFCI outlets and lighting are usually part of the electrical work the inspector checks.
Tile, vanity and toilet
Compare the tile area and material, the vanity size and top, and whether a new toilet is included.
Use the quote request template so every contractor quotes the same bathroom.
