How it works

From a pile of quotes to a clear decision, in four steps.

  1. 1

    Describe the project

Pick the project type and enter the ZIP code. Add the size if you know it — it makes the cost range more useful.

  2. 2

    Add your quotes

Type in up to three quotes line by line, or upload a PDF or photo. Uploaded files are read automatically when that's switched on, and you always confirm the numbers.

  3. 3

    Read the side-by-side report

See which quotes leave out expected work, where each price sits against the typical range, and any issues with deposits, warranties or permits.

  4. 4

    Ask, then decide

Copy the suggested questions for each contractor. When the answers come back, check the contractor you choose with the checklist.
